Elevating MSMEs Through Innovation: A Community Service Project By The Students of Applied Bachelor Study Program of Public Sector Business Administration

The students of Applied Bachelor Study Program of Public Sector Business Administration, Polytechnic of STIA LAN Makassar, as mandated by Tri Dharma of Higher Education values, carried out community service in the form of Innovation Projects for Micro/Small/Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Makassar city.

One of the project was implemented at RW Tello Mandiri Restaurant, which was conducted in three forms of innovation.
The first innovation was focused on developing digital menu with barcode technology, providing an efficient solution to time constraints which usually arise due to manual management. This progressive change allowed customers to access the menu efficiently through a mobile phone by scanning the barcode at each table, providing a faster and more convenient dining experience.

The second innovation involved the introduction of a cashless payment system using digital QRIS system in the restaurant. By using QR codes for cashless transactions, this innovation overcomed cashiers’ limitations in finding change, increased transaction speed and respond to the needs of customers who tend to choose non-cash payments, increasing efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Finally, the third innovation was conducted by developing an official Instagram account for the restaurant with the addition of the Linktree feature in the bio and Instagram Feed. This step aimed to increase RW Tello Mandiri Restaurant’s visibility among the locals, national and international community, taking advantage of Instagram’s popularity as an image and video sharing platform. Linktree would provide easy access to further information, while the Instagram Feed would provide a complete picture through attractive visuals, supporting customer’s understanding and interest, which could increase the revenue of the restaurant at the end of the day.

This innovation had provided some meaningful impacts to the community, especially to the MSMEs sector in Makassar, as well as insights for the students and the Public Sector Business Administration Department of Polytechnic of STIA LAN Makassar in order to develop more sustainable and impactful innovations in the future.
